What will delegates do on the day?
Delegates should bring a copy of current KS3 and KS4 year plans. These will be discussed, evaluated and compared alongside other examples of curricula. We will look at how we can embed the direct instruction of vocabulary, as well as developing portable cultural knowledge. Once a draft curriculum has been created, delegates will then look at ways in which it can be implemented.
Who is the training aimed at?
Line managers of English departments, Heads of English, Heads of Key Stage within English departments and English teachers with an interest in curriculum design.
What school improvement aims will this support?
Improved delivery of the curriculum to support memorisation, challenge and consistency of delivery.
How will the course impact be evaluated?
Evaluations on the day and longer term improvements garnered from staff feedback on the impact of the implementation and effects of changes made to curricula.
