Improving the Performance of Disadvantaged Pupils
A must for every leader delivering Pupil Premium reviews
A pro-active and interactive day for all leaders involved in the delivery of Pupil Premium reviews, whether you’ve never been involved before or want to update your knowledge and skills. This practical one day training session will leave you empowered to deliver an effective Pupil Premium review that will impact on outcomes for children and young people. Delivered by Marc Rowland, Marc is an adviser for improving outcomes for disadvantaged learners for the Unity Schools Partnership. Marc also is currently working with the Education Endowment Foundation’s national Research School Network on the roll out of their national Pupil Premium training programme. He was formerly the Head of Rosendale Research School in Lambeth.
What you can expect from the day:
Session One: Maximising the impact of the Pupil Premium. What evidence and best practice tells us
Session Two: Pupil Premium Reviews: Planning, delivering, follow up and impact
Session Three: Reflecting on in-school case studies. What has worked well, pitfalls to avoid
Session Four: Next steps – applying learning and discussion from the day to future reviews
Delegates should finish the day being confident about how to evaluate the effectiveness of schools’ strategies to tackle educational disadvantage through Pupil Premium review. A range of resources will be used, including real-life examples from a range of contexts, and the work that has been developed with the EEF to help schools improve the self-evaluation of their Pupil Premium strategy.
Drawing on the experiences of colleagues in the room too will be equally important!
Refreshments will be available throughout the day and lunch will be provided
